Pre-Prep pupils begin their day by entering through the main front entrance, where they are welcomed by their class teacher in the playground. After registration, children move into their phonics groups to learn new sounds, read together and practise spelling in a supportive and engaging environment. This is followed by a literacy lesson and a mid morning snack before heading outside for playtime.
On returning to the classroom, pupils take part in a maths lesson before going to lunch. Afternoons are dedicated to a broad range of non core subjects, which may include Science, Humanities, PSHE, Computing or RE. Across the week, children also enjoy specialist lessons in Music, Spanish, French and PE, alongside a weekly swimming session for one term each year.
The week also includes a whole school assembly, where achievements are celebrated and key themes are explored together. This clear and consistent structure provides Pre-Prep pupils with a reassuring routine that supports their wellbeing while helping them develop independence, confidence and a love of learning.
In the Prep School, each day is carefully structured to balance academic learning, enrichment and wellbeing. Pupils arrive promptly and begin the day with registration, where they come together to share key messages, set expectations and strengthen a sense of community.
Core lessons in English, mathematics and study skills take place during the morning, when pupils are most focused. Teaching is engaging and purposeful, with lessons designed to meet a range of learning styles and encourage independence, problem solving and confidence. A mid-morning break provides time for outdoor play, supporting physical activity, social interaction and wellbeing.
Lunchtime is a calm and social part of the day, with pupils eating together in the dining hall. This encourages good manners, positive conversation and mealtime etiquette, while children enjoy a balanced and nutritious meal. Afternoons are dedicated to specialist teaching in subjects such as music, art, languages and physical education, allowing pupils to explore interests and develop a broad range of skills.
The school day concludes with a calm and structured end, giving pupils time to reflect, record homework and organise their belongings ready for home. Throughout the day, clear routines, strong pastoral support and high expectations create a nurturing environment in which every child feels secure, motivated and supported to achieve their best.
