History at Benedict House Preparatory School is designed to spark curiosity, deepen understanding and help children make sense of how the past has shaped the world they live in today. Through a carefully sequenced curriculum, pupils explore a wide range of periods, people and events, from early civilisations and significant individuals to local history and key moments in Britain’s story.
Learning is brought to life through storytelling, rich sources, artefacts and enquiry based approaches, encouraging pupils to ask thoughtful questions, think critically and develop a secure sense of chronology. Opportunities such as assemblies and national commemorative days allow children to recognise and celebrate influential historical figures and events. Our aim is for every child to leave Benedict House with strong historical knowledge, confidence in using historical skills and a genuine enthusiasm for exploring history beyond the classroom.
