At Benedict House, children are encouraged to think and behave like real artists and designers. Benedict children engage in self, peer and teacher led critiques from years 1 through 6, which enables them to grow their confidence and try new techniques and approaches. This leads to continual improvement of their art and design technology. Importantly, they are taught that making mistakes can be where you truly learn the most.
We theme art lessons, making different cultural and historical connections, create models for science and geography, as well as look at contemporary references. Additionally, we work in a variety of media, including stop-motion animation and green-screen film work.
We appreciate the artistic and cultural riches on our doorstep by taking trips to London galleries and offer several after school art centred clubs. We strive to build art into all curriculum areas and use it to enhance and commemorate significant events.
