The Five Highlights of My Week – 1st March 2024

1. We love to put our children’s suggestions into action . When a Year 3 chess player suggested we invite West Lodge School for a friendly chess festival we sent the invitation , we welcomed our new friends from West Lodge and we had the best time and a fabulous tea .

2. Open Morning is a wonderful way for visitors to see the warm welcome everyone receives at Benedict House School . The children are always proud to show prospective families around their school and tell them what life is like in our friendly school . The homemade cakes are always a great success and reflect the delicious food children enjoy at lunchtime provided by Pollen Partnership.

3. It isn’t every day you watch children talking to Florence Nightingale , and her talking back !! Through the wonders of AI the children learning all about the famous Victorian were able to think about questions to ask Miss Nightingale and she replied . I missed the answer to “Were you naughty at school “.

4. 100 days smarter was celebrated by Year 1. This fabulous idea was introduced by a member of staff from America. The children have been in school a hundred days since they started. The children dressed up in lots of interesting costumes and used 100nas the theme , a hundred pasta piece necklace and armfuls of 100 red roses. There was a lot of grey hair which one young man explained he now looked as old as Mr Wardle !!!

5. Roman Day . Its not every day that you see a legion of Roman soldiers marching through the dining hall chanting in Latin and forming a shield barrier to attack. Well we did this week and what a wonderful way to learn about the Romans , be one !!!
